✏️#copywritingtip: You’ve got that big, beautiful header and that’s what you’re going to put in it?
“Welcome to my website”? ⠀
Or even, “WELCOME. WE’RE SO GLAD YOU’RE HERE.”⠀
⠀
First of all, we know it’s a website.
It’s not 1994 where we’re like, “Oooh, this is part of the Internet. It’s interactive!” ⠀
⠀
Second, no one is going to leave because they didn’t get a welcome message. Or because they’re not sure they’re invited. They know.⠀
⠀
They’re going to leave because they don’t know in an instant what this place is. ⠀
⠀
What do you do? Who’s it for? What’s in it for me? ⠀
⠀
That’s what we need to know in a split second when we land on your site. Or we at least need to be intrigued enough to stick around and find out more. ⠀
⠀
You need a great tagline, or header copy, to tell them. And you need it in that big, beautiful space above the scroll. ⠀
⠀
(It’s like a prime corner spot in NYC with lots of foot traffic. Say, Madison and 56th Street. Imagine what beautiful thing could’ve gone there. SAD.)⠀
⠀
So. How do you write a tagline? (A great one?)
Glad you asked. If you need help coming up with a tagline, or header copy, I have something for that. (Don’t let this get around, but it just might contain tagline examples and tagline templates. Which I mention both because it does and because I hope you’ll find this page when you search for “tagline templates.”)
